ACCOMPLISHED GOALS FOR
H.A.C. FLORIDA, INC. PASSED IN SPECIAL SESSION IN EARLY 2007

Due to HAC's and the Coalitions diligence, Citizens Insurance has seen many changes and is now a viable and in many cases the least expensive insurer. We have addressed insurance laws in Florida and many have been change.

Immediate rescission of the 20% rule that Citizens has to charge over any other company. This has only allowed an escalation of rates/premiums.

Should a policy be taken from Citizens by another company, cancelled by Citizens, or just not renewed by the policy holder, the policy holder should be let back into Citizens if they so choose. In the current situation of insurance companies not writing in many areas, policy holders can be left without any insurance and those with mortgages have to cover the property or lose the mortgage, looking at foreclosure.

Homeowners need to be allowed to CHOOSE the amount of coverage they are comfortable with, not mandated to. Homeowners also need to be able to set the value of contents coverage based on their comfort zone of value, not mandated as to one-half the replacement cost of the home.

Clear and concise definitions of a sinkhole. Sinkhole claims must require a permit so that adequate record counts can be kept.

The Speed to Market initiative that allows insurance companies to raise rates without requiring normal rate approval must be changed. Florida is the ONLY state that allows this practice. "Use and File" vs. "File and Use".
